Sovereign Shell Cordovan Boot

Shell cordovan is not leather in the ordinary sense – it is the dense muscle membrane from the horse’s rump, tanned over six months in Horween’s Chicago vats. It does not crease. It rolls, and it takes a mirror shine that holds.

Each pair is hand-welted, hand-burnished and finished over roughly 300 hours of work. We make six pairs a year. Every pair is numbered, comes with cedar trees, dust bags and a written record of the maker who finished it.

Care

Brush with a horsehair brush after wear. Shell cordovan needs almost no polish – a deer bone and elbow grease do most of the work.
